This is the blog of the book Introduction to Webometrics: Quantitative Web Research for the Social Sciences, by Mike Thelwall. Please leave a comment on the whole book or if you have a comment on an individual chapter, leave that comment on the blank blog post for that chapter. Thank you!
Hello, Dr. Thelwall
ReplyDeleteCan I use the "http://www.linkvendor.com/"
to conduct awebometric analysis in general?
mahmoud
Hello Mahmood,
ReplyDeleteI would recommend not to use this tool because there does not seem to be any explanation of where the numbers come from and there is no webometric research on the accuracy of the site. I would stick to AltaVista and Yahoo for links and Bing/Live Search for other types of webometrics research because these are well-known search engines and there is some research on their accuracy.
Best wishes,
Mike
Dr. Thellwall, how are you?
ReplyDeletePlease, what is the best tool can I use it for doing a webometric study about the academic web in one country, AltaViata or Google, Yahoo, SOCSINBOT? what is the difference between them?
sorry, Altavista...
ReplyDeleteI have read a new review about your book in the information research journal, at this link:
